So much depends upon a red wheelbarrow

  1. This is a poem from Ana Osan and William Carlos Williams:

    La carretilla roja, bis”

    ...e inesperadamente,
    sin convocarlo,
    apareció en el buzón
    el recuerdo lejano de Carlos.

Era su carretilla, brillante y roja,
    un mudo acontecer
    con dos castas gallinas blancas,
    convertidas en testigos de excepción.

Pero esta vez, no fue él
    sino Jorge,
aquél de la pluma y el pincel,
    quien diera vida al poema.

    “The Red Wheelbarrow”

    so much depends
    upon

    a red wheel
    barrow

    glazed with rain
    water

    beside the white
    chickens

    William Carlos Williams

    “The Red Wheelbarrow, bis”

    …and unexpectedly,
    without summons,
    the distant memory from Carlos
    appeared in the mailbox.

It was his wheelbarrow, shiny and red,
    a mute occurrence
    with two chaste, white hens,
    turned into privileged witnesses.

But this time, it wasn’t he
    but George,
the one with the pen and the brush,
who brought the poem to life.

  2. This is a poem from Dale Bodmer:

Two chickens and a red wheelbarrow,
traveling on, through the straight and narrow.
do they take turns pushing, with the other inside,
or do they both get in, and wait for a ride?

    (that's the chorus)
